Data Privacy Day (DPD) 2021:
Data Privacy Day (DPD) is celebrated annually on January 28. This day is celebrated around the world to bring care to data privacy and protection. The day is dedicated to raising awareness with creators about the importance of privacy, highlighting simple ways to protect personal information, and reminding organizations that privacy is good for business.

Birthday of Lala Lajpat Rai 2021:
Lala Lajpat Rai is best known as the ‘Punjab Caesar’ or ‘the Lion of the Punjab’. He was actively campaigned for Swadeshi and spread the message of independence in India during the Indian liberation war. Lala Lajpat Rai was born on January 28th, 1865.
This year marks the 156th anniversary of his birth in India.

The Acting President of Portugal has won a second term in five years
Acting Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has won a second five-year term after winning the 2021 Portuguese presidential election. The 72-year-old former leader of the Social Democratic Party won 61 percent of the total vote. He will serve as President of the country from 9 March 2016. He will take up his second term in office in March 2021.

Treasury has disbursed a total of more than 12,351 Crore to RLB:
The Department of Finance has disbursed a total of more than 12,351 Crore rupees in 18 provinces by providing grants to Rural Local Bodies. This is the second installment of the capital fund released for the 2020-21 financial year. The grant was issued in 18 provinces which awarded the first Installation Certificate and the recommendation of the Panchayati Raj Department.
Grants to RLBs are issued in accordance with the recommendations of the 15th Financial Commission for the creation of public assets and to improve the financial performance of RBIs.

The Textile Department has signed an MoU with the Nissenken Quality Evaluation Center of Japan:
The Fabric Committee of the Textile Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nissenken Quality Evaluation Center of Japan to increase the export of textiles and clothing to the Japanese market.
The MoU signing ceremony was held with a video conference hosted by Textile Minister Smriti Irani and Japan’s Minister of Economic, Trade, and Industry Yasumasa Nagasaka. The main purpose of the MoU is to provide the necessary trade and textile assistance to ensure quality according to the needs of Japanese consumers.

The Premier hosted the 35th PRAGATI program meeting
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chairs the meeting of the 35th PRAGATI program, a multi-platform ICT platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving Central and Government governments. At the meeting, ten agenda items were taken up for review which included nine projects and one plan. These nine projects have a collection cost of Rs. 54,675 pounds belonging to 15 regions.

UP has become the first state in the country with two aircraft on the way
UP has completed the construction of a 3,300-meter airport near Kurebhar on the Purvanchal Expressway. TN CM Edappadi Palanisamy launched Jayalalithaa Memorial in Chennai:
Tamil Nadu Prime Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has inaugurated the Jayalalithaa Monument in Chennai. A magnificent monument is built on a nine-acre [9 ha] beach off Marina Beach. The monument erected in Phoenix has a portrait of Jayalalithaa and MGR with an artificial waterfall. The project was completed in a record 30 months.

FICCI expects India’s GDP to enter 8% by 2020-21:
India’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to operate at eight percent by 2020-21, according to the latest round of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry’s (Ficci’s) Economic Outlook Survey. FICCI expects the economy to perform much better in the 2021-22 financial year with a GDP growth rate of 9.6 percent on FY22.

Former Indian goalkeeper Prasanta Dora passes away:
Former Indian goalkeeper Prasanta Dora, who also played for three of Kolkata’s top football clubs, passed away on Tuesday after losing a battle with ‘Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis’, a rare blood disorder. Prasanta made his national debut in 1999 against Thailand in the Olympic qualifiers. He also made national colors in tournaments such as the SAFF Cup and the SAF Games and won a total of five international matches.
