INDIAN NAVY ADMIRALS

  • The Chief of the Naval Staff is the commander and chief executive officer of the Indian Navy. The position is abbreviated by the CNS in Indian Navy cables and communications and is usually held by a four-star officer in the Admiral positions. The current CNS is Admiral Sunil Lanba. The 23rd Navy Commander, who took over from Admiral Robin K. Dhowan, retired on May 31, 2016, after 40 years in the Navy.
  • Indian Navy is a naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces – two other troops deployed in defense of the country are the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force. The President of India is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Navy, while the Naval Commander commands the Navy.
  • The main purpose of the Indian Navy is to protect the country’s maritime borders and help expand its troops. The body of the sea, the invention of which was traced back to the 17th century, is given various responsibilities. From overcoming threats to the development of indigenous systems and weapons, the Indian Navy is working above, inside, and below the sea level to help create a safer marine environment.

When is Navy Day celebrated?

Navy Day is celebrated in India on December 4. On the day before December 4, the Navy Indian organized a Beat Retreat and a Tattoo Ceremony at the Gateway of India in Mumbai.

What was the performance of Trident?

  • Operation Trident was carried out on the night of December 4 and 5 when the Navy launched its offensive at Pakistan Naval headquarters in Karachi. India drowned four Pakistani ships and destroyed the Karachi harbor oil fields. The operation has killed more than 500 Pakistani workers in Pakistan, and the Indian side has not lost.
  • Operation Trident was followed by another attack by the Indian Navy, called Operation Python. Also, India did not lose anything in the incident and was able to damage the Pakistani submarine PNS Dacca in an irreversible manner while causing them to lose the Kemari repository.

Why celebrate Navy Day?

Navy Day is celebrated with the intention of commemorating the launch of Operation Trident during the Indo-Pak war in 1971. This day is celebrated as a mark of respect for those killed in the war.
